Selected Arts Projects
The Dog Project, April 2006
This was an open collaboration that I initiated, involving around 50 participants. 73 papier maché dogs were made in the Triskel Arts Centre, Cork. These dogs were on display in the Lord Mayor's 'Picnic in the Park' and will be used in various installation exhibitions. They are currently at St. Finbarr's hospital as part of Triskel's artist residency programme. We hope to tour these dogs to festivals and arts centres. The project is ongoing.
Horsey, January - March 2006
This was a collaboration with Rob Ireson, in which we built a life-size papier maché horse in the National Sculpture Factory.
Puppet Show, February 2006
As a member of Tangle Theatre, I presented a puppet show for the St. Patrick's Festival, Cork, in collaboration with Rob Ireson and Aron Towers. The show was of elephant 'rockers' who rode around on 'mean bikes' with a sound machine, and then stopped and performed a puppet show with rat puppets.
Rubbish Performance, Summer 2005
This was a group urban performance in which participants were invited to make impromptu costumes using rubbish and sellotape, and then play in the street. This performance took place 5 times and was documented by video.
Paper Sculpture, January 2004
This was a residency in Yaniyannos Gallery in Athens. I was invited to use a space in the gallery to make a newspaper sculpture. The result was a fullsize marionette sculpture of a pregnant woman.
Peinture Fraiche, 1999 - 2000
Peinture Fraiche was a shared studio space and gallery. I worked for over a year in collaboration with three other artists, holding regular exhibitions.
Orchardton House, 1996
This was an 'Art Community' in which I lived for eighteen months. I was involved in the organization and implementation of the Arts Festival here, and initiated a writers' and drawing group.
